It's not often I'm given a bag of onions as a gift

...But the farmers we talked to today in the very hot and dry area of northern Ghana we're in gave us a bag as a gift.

At harvest time there's plenty of food around and people are practically giving it away.

This is partly because they have no facilities to store food, and also because they don't have the means to get food to far away markets.

A few months down the line and the food may be gone.

Supporting farmers in simple ways to enable them to produce, store, process or sell their food can mean the difference between hunger and plenty.
