One Country to add to the network – Sweden

Wednesday, June 24, 2015 - 15:31

Guest blog post from Malin, Activista Sweden.

Yes, after Oyin's blog post I think you know how privileged I am to have been asked to start this innovative, changemaking global youth network in Sweden. The more countries are represented, from the North and South, from East and West - the stronger the network is and the greater positive, sustainable changes, we can accomplish.

The first day of the forum, we spent time finding out where we are, what the countries are working with and will work with shortly. For Sweden, I presented the mobile phone app that we have produced for the work with the Safe Cities for Women campaign.

It will be launched during the political week in Almedalen, in the first week in July, together with the launch of Activista Sweden!

We notice a huge interest from youth to use this mobile app to map their neighbourhoods and send the results to the responsible local politician. It may be poorly lit roads, lack of toilets and late buses.

We start in Sweden, but imagine the positive changes we can make around the world - In Dhaka, Sao Paulo, Johannesburg and Athens. You name it – ACTIVISTA!
