ActionAid deaths in Kabul shooting

ActionAid is deeply saddened to confirm that two members of ActionAid Afghanistan staff were killed and one injured in last night’s shooting at the Park Palace Hotel in Kabul. 

The two men killed were Dr Jawid Ahmad Sahai and Mohammad Mohammady. Their families have been informed.

They were among of group of ActionAid staff and partners who were staying at the hotel while attending training and meetings in Kabul.

“We are shocked and sadden by the death of our colleagues in Afghanistan. They were doing important work to end poverty and injustice in very difficult circumstances. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families of all those killed and injured. Our priority is providing support to the families as well as those that survived the attack. We also express our solidarity and support for all our colleagues in Afghanistan at this terrible time,” said Adriano Campolina, chief executive, ActionAid International.
