ActionAid Cambodia in partnership with RFCD has launched a project, “Gender Responsive Alternative on Climate Change (GRACC),” in Pursat province on 27th October 2017 with attendance of Deputy of provincial governor, representatives of sectorial provincial departments, Disaster Management Committee members, local authorities, and INGOs/NGOs.
The event was to introduce the proposed overall goal, overarching outcomes, outputs and activities of GRACC and Building Disaster Resilient Communities in Cambodia (BDRC IV) project to relevant key stakeholders and to seek their strong cooperation and support to the project implementation.
In opening remark, the Deputy of provincial governor, H.E. Khoy Rida, showed his strong impression and support to GRACC & BDRC IV project. He emphasized that the project goal is aligned with the government’s policies and action plans to address DDR/CC and other related crises. He urged all relevant stakeholders to work in close cooperation and support project implementation.
GRACC project is supported by Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), The Government of Australia (Co-finance with DIPECHO Project, EU) in purpose to empower women in decision making related to disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change. The project will work with grassroots level women as well as women leaders of the local Disaster Management Committees/authorities (DMC) to strengthen their engagement in DRR and CCA policy development and decision making.
At the end of the launching, participants are informed about the project goal, activities, their roles and responsibilities within the project, and the relationship among the stakeholders is strengthened.
