Tuesday, June 21, 2011 - 13:23

Activista The Gambia have been on the airwaves of the private radio station Paradise FM with a series of phone in programmes. The latest was a panel discussion on Who Made a Billion People Hungry with Youth Activists Dawda Samba, Siaka K. Dibba and Baboucarr Sallah as the panelists.

Their discussion cited statistics from ActionAid, FAO and the World Food Programme on the hunger situation in the world today which generated a lot of calls from and debate among the audience.

While some cited political reasons for the billion hungry people in the world today, others blamed world leaders for not living up to their pledges to support developing nations.

For others, leaders are just not allocating a greater portion of their nation’s budget to agriculture.

There were many callers from home and abroad and some used the Activista The Gambia’s facebook page to send in their comments as part of their contribution. Others calledl via Skype.

Do watch out for the programme. It is aired every fortnight on Paradise FM. Activista The Gambia assures you of an educative and informative programme.
