ActionAid Ghana’s goals and objectives feed into the ActionAid Internal goals that form the rallying point for all ActionAid’s work.

The goals: poor and excluded people and communities will exercise power to secure their rights, women and girls will gain power to secure their rights, citizens and civil society across the world will fight for rights and justice, states and their institutions will be accountable and democratic and will promote, protect and fulfil human rights for all are also guided priorities and needs of poor and excluded people and constitute a milestone in tackling poverty

In Ghana, the organisation focuses on three key thematic priorities of education, food rights and women’s rights.
HIV & Aids, peace building and emergencies are implemented as cross cutting issues in selected regions while governance is mainstreamed in all three thematic areas.

The four strategic objectives of ActionAid work in Ghana are to:

  • build and strengthen poor people’s power to claim their rights and live a life of dignity
  • challenge the injustice and inequity within communities, at the national level and globally that perpetuate power over poor people and other oppressed groups

  • support and enhance civil society’s power to work with others to develop collective strength against and its causes, and

  • strengthen poor people’s power within by nurturing self confidence and self esteem to define their own agenda and advocate on equal terms with all.
