AAG has been operating in Ghana since 1990 and has presence in six (6) out of the 10 administrative regions of Ghana. These are Upper East, Upper West, Northern, Brong Ahafo, Volta and Greater Accra Regions. The focus of our interventions has over the years shifted from helping to address the manifestations of poverty to the structural causes of poverty and injustice and advancing alternatives.
As part of our ongoing work, ActionAid Ghana in partnership with theSunyani West District Assembly and La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly has secured a grant from the European Commission to undertake a forty-two (42) month project in Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra. The project aims to contribute to the promotion and growth of the informal local economy in Brong Ahafo and Greater Accra regions in Ghana. Specifically, the action would collaborate with District Assembly (DAs) to promote environmentally sustainable livelihoods and decent work for women, women groups and youth who depend on informal economies; improve transparency, accountability and revenue mobilization of DAs. The action will be implemented in 40 communities, twenty-five (25) in Sunyani West District and fifteen (15) in the La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality
