End poverty together.

Brong Ahafo

Regional Rights Programme

The Brong Ahafo Regional Rights Programme was started in 2000 in the Asutifi District. In 2005 the programme expanded to cover Tain district. The programme currently operates in 36 communities in both districts.

Brong Ahafo programme supports poor and marginalised people in the region to engage government agencies to ensure that pro-poor policies and legislations not only exist but are implemented to protect their basic rights.

ActionAid supports capacity building for civil society to claim its rights, and also supports District Assemblies and other government agencies to respond effectively to community needs.

Through capacity building in advocacy and lobby work, communities in Brong Ahafo are supported to speak and take action to address issues that affect their lives themselves. Programme interventions

Rights to education, women’s rights and food rights form the basis for ActionAid’s key intervention areas of empowering the poor and excluded to claim their rights.

The programme also implements HIV/AIDS, governance and human security in conflict and emergencies across all its thematic focus areas.

The target population or ActionAid’s work in this region is excluded women, children and people living with HIV and Aids.
