Wall Street Campaign

Thousands of children, women and men live on the streets of Chennai. The fact that they exist and live amidst us is not accepted or out-rightly rejected. But the issue cannot be wished away, and its time we all came together to break the silence and step-out ‘Home-O-Phobia’, or the fear of homeless.

To encourage individuals to partner, The Wall-Street campaign aims to hand print walls, involving common public who wish to show their solidarity for the cause of homeless population in the city of Chennai.

Why:

ActionAid and several others have been working to get needs and rights of the homeless people recognised. But this struggle has a fundamental challenge that needs to be addressed. The challenge is to give an identity to homeless people, and with them to their needs, and break myths that create fear or apathy towards homeless.
Over 40,000 homeless people live on the streets of Chennai without any support and access to even basic of rights.
When and where:
From 18th to 22nd of June, 2011 at Anna Nagar, Harrington Road and Egmore in Chennai.
