ActionAid’s work revolves around six thematic areas namely; Education, HIV and AIDS, Governance, Women’s Rights and Food Security.
In Education, ActionAid promotes and supports free and quality basic education for all.
It seeks to ensure that boys and girls have equal access to education and promote accountability in the use of education resources.
ActionAid also promotes parents involvement in the management and day-to-day running of schools and supports models for adequate distribution of resources to all schools and areas.
The Food Security work focuses on policies, and support to farmer-groups to increase demand for accountability and effective delivery of services. It also supports models for production and marketing to enhance living standards.
The programme also seeks to safeguard local people’s rights and ability to provide for themselves within the international trade agreements.
ActionAid’s HIV and AIDS and health work supports initiatives to promote access to health services in rural areas including monitoring the use of public resources on health.
The organisation seeks to promote a life of dignity for people living with HIV and AIDS by promoting access to treatment, prevention and care and support.
We promote greater involvement of people living with HIV and AIDS in policies and processes at all levels.
