In this March 2016 issue of our newsletter, you will encounter some compelling stories of struggle for change. Take for example the determination by the people of Marafa to secure their rights through the citizens’ forums. Our partnership with the community while engaging duty bearers, have significantly reduced the problem. Similarly reflect circles in Embu have resulted in enabling vulnerable women to establish table banking as an attempt to model a best practice to showcase to policy makers, a community driven approach to secure financial security for women. This approach to empower women is also demonstrated by women in Kuria through their remarkable success in their smallholder Bee Keeping activities. In Garissa, one family have stood up against all odds to directly confront Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) even at the risk of social isolation from a culturally conservative community.
