2008
Over 10,000 people have been rendered homeless after flood waters swept through their homes. Most families have now pitched tents on higher ground waiting for the flood water to recede.

2005
South Asia Earthquake
Eighteen months after the South Asia earthquake killed around 80,000 in northern Pakistan and India and made millions homeless, ActionAid continues to support the recovery of thousands of the most isolated families.
East Africa Food Crisis
First the worst drought for 50 years hit the horn of Africa, destroying cattle and framland. Then some of the worst flooding for a generation wiped out entire villagers. ActionAid continues to work in Kenya, Burundi, Ethiopia and Tanzania, rebuilding lives and livelihoods.

The worst floods for years in the Horn of Africa have driven thousands of people from their homes - affecting 1.8 million people across Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya.
India Floods
In July 2005 torrential rains and high tides left over 1000 dead and disrupted the lives of over 20 million people. ActionAid provided immediate relief such as food and mobile health services and took action to mobilise civil society organizations.
2004
On 26 December 2004 an earthquake in the Indian Ocean sparked-off a series of tsunamis that killed over 250,000 people. ActionAid was among the first anti-poverty groups to respond, with the biggest emergency response in our history
2001
Gujurat Earthquake
In January 2001, the worst earthquake in India's history hit Gujarat, killing more than 20,000 people injuring 166,000 and destroying over 1 million homes. Six years after our initial emergency response, we are still working with those affected by the earthquake.
