ActionAid is a global movement of people working together to further human rights and defeat poverty for all.


AAIM started working in Machinga in 2005. As a child sponsorship focused organization, its activities in the district are wide through its advocacy work.

Because of high dropout rates of girls, due to their parents’ inability to raise school fees for Community Day Secondary Schools, the area supports mother and father support groups to operate small business funds of which the money is used to support the poor and vulnerable children with school fees. Through the Women and Land Project (WOLAR), women were allocated land and are now able to control and own the farm produce
