I love being a young activist and an action oriented researcher. One of the reasons is that it provides me with an opportunity to interact with diverse group of people. For instance I travelled to Janakpur, an eastern part of Nepal, to train young people on issues related to reproductive rights. What drew my attention there were the houses painted with beautiful designs and colors. It was interesting for me to know that these creativities were of housewives. This is their only medium of expression, to interact with them an outsider needs to seek permission from their guardian (father, husband, or son).
I started to reflect "Why is it so important for women always covered in the veil to be heard?" I realized that all over the world we are looking for an opportunity to express ourselves either in the form poetry, art, dance, drama, and literature, or through campaigning, riot, violence, or demonstrations. I came to the conclusion that the only agenda is the desire to be heard and to instigate the change you want to see.
I am an activist with an obvious desire to be heard. Seeking a platform to blend activism with expression I had no idea which path is perfect for me. Taking up negative means of expression, is luring enough to be heard instantly but that's not my style. So I am with the Blogger Swarm project to fantasize with my keyboard.
