Season of plentyTuesday, 13 December 2011 - 7:18pm Africa blogger swarm Climate Change HungerFREE Nigeria Yams Photo: Brixton In Benue state where I live, everyone is up and doing because the harvest is here. This poem captures the moments in the food basket state. Enjoy it. Season of plenty We have forgotten the days of hunger and want Our mouths sing songs of joy. As the drummers roll their drums, The dancers’ feet move in unison. We are celebrating the days of harvest For with the harvest, Comes the season of plenty As a groom awaits his bride We waited for thee oh harvest To bestow on us, joy inestimable To choke away tears of hunger and want The harvest season is a happy one It is a season of plenty. For us who till the ground The harvest season means a lot. More food on the table More money in our pockets We can now with boldness face today Without the fears of hunger and want Our season of plenty is here at last. View the discussion thread.
