This report, drawing on case studies from three continents, shows that some governments aretaking decisive action to reduce hunger. India's National Rural Employment Guarantee Act,Malawi's Farm Inputs Subsidy Programme and Brazil's Zero Hunger programme are all showingsignificant successes in reducing hunger. This study highlights the reasons for success of theseprogrammes and points to lessons which should be considered by governments that are failing toprioritise the eradication of hunger. These case studies show, above all, that the combination ofcivil society pressure and government commitment to the Right to Food (see Box 2) is key toreducing the scourge of global hunger.
