Rohingya refugee crisis appeal

Over 600,000 Rohingya people have fled to Bangladesh since violence erupted in North Rakhine, Myanmar, and numbers are increasing.

Most of the Rohingya refugees are women and children in desperate need of food, shelter, clean water and medical aid. They have walked for many days to reach Cox’s Bazar and many are injured and exhausted. We are especially concerned about the impact of the violence on women and girls, who are in particular need of protection and assistance.

ActionAid is on the ground in Cox’s Bazar, in the Mainnerghona settlement, where we are providing safe drinking water, food packages and other important provisions.

Please donate today to support the Rohingya people, via these ActionAid offices:

Focusing on women and girls, ActionAid Bangladesh is establishing women-led committees for each site within the settlement, who are informing decisions about the services they need and receive. Other services include women-friendly spaces, latrines and bathing areas.

We are distributing hygiene kits containing sanitary towels, soap, clean underwear and disinfectant to help women manage their periods with dignity and prevent the spread of water borne diseases.
