Armed with a Post Graduate Diploma from the Borough College London, Funmi has also had training from in the field of personnel management, knowledge management and IT from institutes in Nigeria and the UK. Some of these include City and Guilds, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Universiteit Stellenbosch University, Phillip Consulting, APM Group and The Coaching Academy.

Prior to her joining ActionAid Nigeria in 2009, Funmi was Head, Human Resources at Global InfoSwift Technologies Ltd, Lagos; Human Resources/Marketing Coordinator, Tidy Bond, DARTFORD Kent UK from September 2005 to August 2007 and was Office Manager/Recruitment Personnel at the RCCG (Mission Based Charity), South East London from November 2002 to July 2005; PA to MD, and later Human Resources Manager, Fidson Healthcare Plc, Lagos 1995 - 2001.
