ActionAid is a global movement of people working together to further human rights and defeat poverty for all.

HIV/Aids

ActionAid’s fight to achieve dignity for people living with HIV and AIDS yielded fruit when a bill based on rights, prevention, treatment care and support was passed in parliament.

Key elements of the Bill includes government’s responsibility to promote public awareness on the causes, modes of transmission, consequences, means of prevention and the control of HIV and AIDS, and recognizing discrimination against HIV/AIDS status as an offense.

We have also supported Women living with HIV and AIDS (WLWHA) drawn from the different support groups to officially and publicly launch a network of WLWHA. This was meant to publicly announce their existence as a network and to meaningfully engage national and sub regional responses to HIV&AIDS and demand for their rights with one voice.
