Transforming the Education of Girls in Nigeria & Tanzania (TEGINT)

Currently ActionAid Tanzania, in partnership with Maarifa Ni Ufunguo and the Community Action for Popular Participation (CAPP) in Nigeria, run a special education initiative project that was initiated in 2007 and is funded by Comic Relief and the Tubney Charitable.

The overall goal of the project is to achieve a transformation in the education of girls in Tanzania and Nigeria, enabling them to enrol and succeed in school by addressing key challenges and obstacles that hinder their participation in education and increase their vulnerability to HIV/AIDS.

In Tanzania, the project is working in 57 schools (47 primary and 10 secondary) in six districts in Northern Tanzania: Arusha, Monduli, Moshi, Hai, Babati and Mbulu.
