ActionAid works with poor people in over 40 countries across the world. Our goal? To end poverty. We believe in doing things differently. We know that with the right opportunities, poor people will find their own solutions - and build new lives.
In spite of a significant economic growth in the last twenty years, Thailand still has pockets of poverty and deprivation; there are increasing instances of injustice, marginalization and human rights violations within the context of increasing inequality and rural-urban divide.
ActionAid Thailand was founded in 2004 in response to poverty, injustice and human rights violations within the country as well within in the region. Based in Bangkok, ActionAid Thailand provides hands-on assistance to marginalized people while also conducting cutting-edge research and advocacy work that presses governments, corporations, and international institutions to adopt policies and agreements that are fair to the disadvantaged of the society.
We also believe that Thailand’s role in fostering solidarity among people of the overall Asian region is crucial considering Thailan'd strong status within the ASEAN countries.
We always take the side of the poorest people and empower people to claim their rights, and we encourage the Thai society as a whole – with a specific focus on young people and women – to drive social change.
Partnership
We work in partnership with other organisations, including a wide range of civil society organisations, academic and research institutions, community-based groups, the media and different levels of government in the fight against poverty.
