ActionAid is a global movement of people working together to further human rights and defeat poverty for all.

Americas

We run programmes in Brazil, Guatemala, and Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and support social movements in other Latin American countries. In the US, we challenge the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the US government to tackle global poverty.

In Brazil, Guatemala, Haiti and Dominican Republic we work with local and national partners and with poor farmers on land reform and trade justice, HIV/AIDS prevention and care, education rights and building social movements.

We also fund work in Bolivia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Peru through our sister organisation in Spain, Ayuda en Accion.

Advocacy

Based in Washington DC, ActionAid USA has a special focus on advocacy, looking at the work of international institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. We aim to improve their accountability and influence their policies to help poor people.

Regional

We play a key role in strengthening national education networks in twelve Latin American countries, which form the regional Campaign for the Right to Education. We also take part in negotiations on a Free Trade Area of the Americas and support our partners to participate in the Caribbean and Brazil social forums.
