At ActionAid International (AAI), we help people use their own power to fight poverty and injustice. Because that’s how real change happens – for families, for communities, for whole societies. Join ActionAid International as our Media Coordinator and you will be part of a global team helping people to use their own power to fight poverty and injustice.

We want you to drive a 5% increase year on year in our global media profile by using your skills to position ActionAid as a leader in the development sector. You will advise and support ActionAid country offices and country directors on media work, providing training where necessary, so that we can increase our profile, recruit new supporters and increase our income.

This is a great opportunity to develop and implement a media strategy; to respond to emerging news stories; to communicate our advocacy priorities and to support our fundraising initiatives. You will need to develop and manage excellent relationships with external stakeholders (e.g. journalists, editors and broadcasters), pitching exciting stories and messaging and ensuring they are well briefed. And you will need to maintain excellent relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring they are trained and equipped to respond to emerging and planned news stories. You will work alongside the Digital Producer, Content Coordinator and the External Communications Lead to deliver effective and ambitious multimedia coverage.

You will have a relevant degree combined with demonstrable experience of working in a relevant communications or PR role. You will be the kind of person who keeps calm under pressure; enjoys working as part of a communications team; and has excellent interpersonal skills. You will have a thorough understanding of the international media landscape, a nose for a good story, an engaging writing style and excellent editorial skills
